![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We meet Alanna and her man-at-arms Coram at an oasis having just finished washing and refilling their waterskins when they are ambushed by hillman and get rescued by a tribe of the Bazhir called the Bloody Hawk Tribe and Alanna faces hurdles learning the way of Bazhir and learning to love accept herself now that she no longer has to hide being female and also coming to grips with the fact that despite the terrible things Duke Roger did as a sorcerer, it does not mean the Gift is evil, anymore than the weapons she wields are. Having now been revealed as a female and having just killed the Kings cousin she leaves court and travels south to where its warmer, looking for adventure until such a time as the news about her is considered "old news". So Alanna has become a knight, exposed Duke Roger and his dastardly plans, whilst duelling him, he cut through the bindings that kept her chest flat causing a scene as her true gender was revealed, and she proceeds to slay him and save the day. Ok so rant about inconsequential stuff over, lets get to the actual book. Also there is no mention of the horse having the same likeness to Alanna as Faithful the cat (ie. ![]() Moonlight is meant to have golden body in colour with snow white mane and tail (like a Palamino), not the other way around. I guess it's meant to be representing 'Moonlight', Alannas' mare. This is the first book where the cover bothers me. ![]()
